Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce that your support in the election of November 2022 led me to win the position of Presidio County Commissioner PCT4, representing most of Marfa and much of the western side of Presidio County.

As commissioner, I hope to reform obsolete and inefficient systems and procedures. I’ve made it my goal to bring a new level of trust and competence to County governance.

I have been attending Commissioners Court meetings since 2010, during my time on Marfa City Council. Our Commissioners Court has not been a proactive body and generally lags in reacting to pressing matters. I believe that a change in the approach of managing County operations will greatly benefit economic development while bolstering the conservation of our resources, including our natural resources. I aspire to propel Presidio County forward without sacrificing the considerable natural beauty that characterizes our region.

By using new ideas and increasing public understanding of the services the County provides to its citizens, I believe that our County government can earn the trust of our diverse stakeholders. My top goal as commissioner will be to ensure that we are better stewards of tax dollars. In tandem with greater fiscal responsibility, I believe we need to actively seek out ways to improve the way County government functions so that we can ultimately serve our citizens better.

I like to describe myself as a conservative Democrat. Those who know me know that I am a committed believer in the power and importance of local government. As commissioner, I will make it a priority to be a vocal presence at the State Capitol, defending our right to local control and securing much-needed funding for safely managed border trade and environmental conservation.

Please visit the blog page on this site to see my most recent updates on what’s going on at County meetings. It has taken me a while to get this feature off the ground but I am excited to post on a regular and continuing basis.

Sincerely yours,

Commissioner David W. Beebe
